4 Pickup Lines That Got the Girl

Some pickup lines flop, but then there are those special pickup lines that rock (rhyme intentional, hurr hurr). So, I decided to scour the interwebs this past week so I could bring to you the pickup lines that saved the day, got the girl (and gave me a good chuckle).

I totally can't blame you for that one, Jodi! You gotta love a witty sense of humor! And it totally reminds me of this video:

D'awwwwh. That's so sweet. My boyfriend and I dance all the time! In the kitchen. And the living room. And wherever. Though I can't really waltz to save my life. He's the twinkle toes in this relationship!

Six Sentence Sunday #16: Meet Alyssa Vega!

Welcome back to the blog! This week, I'm introducing you guys to the female lead in my latest paranormal romance release, Reborn - Alyssa Vega! She's sexy. She's feisty. She's Latin! And she might just be more than she seems to be...

A girl stepped in between us.
I sensed her before I saw her, feeling her consciousness press against mine - the vaguely familiar brush of her presence as she moved past me. But I had never seen her before in my life. Where Malorie was golden and pale, this strange girl was dark and bronzed and sporting a spicy little outfit that made me look twice – off-the-shoulder top, short, tight skirt, dark stockings, and spiky high heels. Both Nathan and I immediately fell silent as she entered the equation.
“There you are, baby,” she purred, her dark eyes hooking onto mine, as she stepped in close to grab two fistfuls of my shirt, “I've been waiting forever.”

Tune in next time to meet another main character from Reborn! Need more now? Check Reborn out at the links shown beneath the cover up above! And don't forget to stop by all the other awesome blogs for more Six Sentence Sunday!

How to Write From a Dude's Perspective in Five Easy Steps

So, you want to write from a dude's perspective (or maybe you just want to write a more believable male character)? Great! I think we need more romance/erotica novels written from the guy's POV. But where do you start?

1. Gloss the Unnecessary Details.
Most men don't get hung up on the small details (unless they're like my boyfriend who's freakily observant), like the color of your heroine's nail polish... or the fact that her heels are designer. They're going to notice your heroine is drop-dead pretty (or not - please give me a mediocre-looking heroine); they're not going to remark on her "cherry-glossed lips." "So what?" you might be asking yourself now. So, don't include that trivial shit in your description of your heroine when you're writing from the guy's POV. Keep it simple. This doesn't mean I'm saying guys are simple. Hell, no! I'm just saying most guys aren't going to stand there and mentally describe his inevitable love interest in terms of "heart-shaped face," and "long, golden tresses," and "perky B-cup breasts" (Okay, so he might do that last one. I've known several guys who were eerily accurate at guessing cup sizes just by sight.)

Your heroine is blonde with a pretty face and maybe a nice smile. Woohoo. One sentence. Minus the bullshit details.

2. Embrace the Action.
The story's winding up to a tense moment. The killer's on the move and the hero's hot on his trail. With guns at the ready, the hero busts into the villain's hideout and... stands around fussing over the antagonist's choice of furnishings? That the drapes are musty and have holes in them?

No. No, no, no, no, no. You're not Tolkien. Don't sit there and describe the shit out of this room while there is obviously something better for your hero to be doing. Like shooting up the bad guy. You don't have to describe every little detail of every little setting in this world, especially when you're trying to keep a tense mood. So, how do you embrace the action? Gloss over the unnecessary details. And stick to shorter sentences. Rushed sentences feel, well, rushed. And when your hero's running towards the climax of the story, feeling a little rushed isn't a bad thing.

Your hero busts through the door into a room cluttered with mismatched furniture. He stalks across a concrete floor towards the basement where he knows the goons have stashed his fiancee. Simple, direct, and to the point.

Six Sentence Sunday #15: Meet Daniel Webb!

Welcome back to the blog! I've decided to start a series of SSS entries that will eventually introduce you to all the main characters in my recent paranormal erotic romance release, Reborn, and this week is dedicated to Daniel Webb - the main character and star of the series!

I didn't remember standing.
Towering over my brother, something suddenly surged within me, leaving a bitterness at the back of my throat. Like a dark heat, the strange sensation raced across my skin – a sensation I didn't have time to question.
The anger sparking within my belly mirrored on Mark's face and I clenched my teeth against the collection of profanities piled on my tongue. He was baiting me and I couldn't afford a falling out.
Without Mark's couch to crash on, I would have nowhere left to go but out on the street.

Be sure to stop by again next week to meet the love interest, Alyssa Vega! And don't forget to check out more awesome SSS posts. Want to know more about Reborn? Click here to see a blurb and to enter to win a free copy!

Welcome to the Release Party for Reborn!

Reborn, Book One of the One Powerful Addiction Series

Meet Daniel Webb. Daniel isn't your average romance hero. He's not an alpha male. He's not even a beta male (or whatever in the Hell they're calling it these days.) He's just a dude. A pretty average dude, actually, living in the backwoods, little town of Stone Hills, Arkansas ... except for the fact that he was just cursed with supernatural powers. Badass supernatural powers that he can't exactly control. (Oh, and they're addicting.)

But Daniel's life is about to get a whole lot more interesting (as if having addictive supernatural powers raging out of control isn't interesting enough) when the sexy and mysterious Alyssa Vega comes blazing into his life for a one night of no-strings-attached fun. At first, it seems like Alyssa is just the spot of normalcy Daniel needs in his crazy out-of-control life right now. Until it turns out Alyssa is a far cry from normal, too.

Fuck.

Power. Sex. And a whole lot of swearing. This isn't your grandmother's romance.

3 Things to Never Say When a Guy Takes Off His Pants

Hey, guys! It's been a little while, but I'm back with a vengeance. As you can see from the bright red text in the right sidebar, I'll be updating the blog every Wednesday and Sunday now. Yay! I can feel your excitement from here. Or maybe that's just all the sugar I've recently ingested? Either way, I think it's about time we got down to business.

3 Things to Never Say When a Guy Takes Off His Pants

1. "Oh, that's interesting ..."
Now ladies, I'm speaking from experience here. Men just do not like this phrase. If you intend to use this phrase, then you should proceed with caution. Make sure he's aware you're checking out that new tattoo he just got on his thigh (and not his perfectly groomed and shaped pubic hair which just happens to vaguely resemble the Virgin Mary). Men are sensitive creatures when it comes to the word "interesting" being used to describe their dicks. I can't see why ...

My vagina is pretty damn interesting, if you ask me.

Six Sentence Sunday #14: A Sneak Peek at Reborn!

Good morning/afternoon/evening, everyone! In honor of Mother's Day and the upcoming release of Reborn, the first book in my One Powerful Addiction series, I bring to you these six naughty sentences to start your day off right!

Her lips parted for me and I took the invitation, slipping my tongue past her lips and into the warmth of her mouth where it moved alongside hers in an unapologetically hungry dance. She moaned into my mouth as she arched her body into mine and fuck, but I needed her. I moved both my hands to her hips, hauling her closer to the edge of the stool and as I did, her legs fully wrapped around my body.
The feel of her was intoxicating, the warmth of her burned through my clothing, and as her teeth wrapped around my bottom lip with a light suck and bite, I pushed what doubts lingered in the head on my shoulders to the back of my mind. Fuck logic; Fuck reason. And fuck that nagging voice at the edge of my consciousness that kept worrying - that kept fixating on the brief tastes of familiarity radiating off Alyssa.

Want more? Reborn releases this upcoming Thursday, May 17th, on Amazon, Smashwords, and All Romance Ebooks. Want more now? RSVP to the release party on Facebook for your chance to win a free copy of the book or check out the official blurb and excerpt here! Happy Mother's Day! And don't forget to check out more SSS!
